About us

Immerse your child in a world of adventure, discovery and imagination by giving them the precious gift of reading. The Sonkasteel strives to provide each child, young and old with a key to a world of new discoveries. Afrikaans children’s literature, and a selected range of adult literature and English South African publications are available.

There is always a hive of activity at the Sonkasteel with events such as book launches where visitors can meet the book’s author. Every Saturday morning there is story time for the little one’s and during the holidays there are also holiday book clubs with activities and crafts.

The Sonkasteel also stocks toys, CD’s and a range of colourful and uniquely South African children’s t-shirts. Soft toys are produced locally by hand by a community project.
